I wrote this for HONORS 392 with Dr. Shelton Woods.
It references a scene in When Heaven and Earth Change Places where the main character, Le Ly is hiding in a trench during a battle in her village. While her mother attempts to calm her with a familiar song, Le Ly peaks over the trench and is exposed to the horrors of war.
“Pondering mortality is a waste of time compared to watching a good movie,” is one of my favorite sentences I’ve written.
